How should I prepare my home for an open inspection?

An open inspection is a good way of getting people through the door and showing exactly why they should buy your property, but some careful planning could be just what you need to increase the chances of success.

Once you’ve set a date for your open inspection, make sure you get to work on making your home sparkle – and here are some ways to do it.

1. Clean and tidy

It might seem obvious, but a good clean and tidy up of your property will go a long way. If all potential buyers see is dust and clutter, they’ll wonder just how easy it would be for them to maintain the home.

Invest in some innovative storage solutions if you’ve got items in places they shouldn’t be, as this will show how to make the most of the space.

Another great idea is to hire a professional cleaning company the day before the inspection, especially if you have little time or inclination to do it yourself!

2. Appeal to the senses

While the visual appearance of your home will be the most important factor, make sure you take the other senses into account as well.

Fresh flowers will give off a great scent, or otherwise think about investing in a few candles to soften the mood.
